During my holidays in Greece, I captured some moments and moods in my travel sketchbook. I used guache only because I wanted to try out which materials work best for me while travelling. In Japan, I used coloured aquarell pencils, which I found ok. What I didn’t like too much was the fact that I needed to paint twice – once with the pencils, then with a brush – as well as adding the details with the pencils again.
I decided to take a few colours and a colour palette this time, and it worked well. It’s not for super quick sketching, of course. However, I used this holiday to relax, and this included taking some time, not every day, but on a few “beach” days, to doodle and paint. I often sketched the situations in pencil, and then added the colour later.
